Consciousness: is a person(cid:495)s subjective awareness, including thoughts, perceptions, experiences of the world, and self-awareness. Infradian rhythm: is a type of rhythm that occurs over a period of time longer than a day. Circannual rhythm: those rhythms that occur yearly, such as hibernation. This is a type of an infradian rhythm. Ultradian rhythms: are those biological rhythms that occur more frequently, such as urination. Circadian rhythms: are internally driven daily cycles of 24 hours, which affect physiological and behavioural processes. This rhythm makes the biggest impact on our life. It usually involves the tendency to be awake or asleep at certain times, hunger at certain times, and the ability to concentrate at certain times. Suprachiasmatic nucleus (scn): is a brain structure in the hypothalamus which communicates signals about light levels from the surrounding environment with the pineal gland. It receives these signals from the retina of the eye.
