PSYC31H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 6: Neuropsychology, Emo, Normal Distribution
Document Summary
Basic data: behavioural observations, also historical and demographic information. Sensory and motor status: alertness cycles/fatigability, medication regimen. Important when evaluating test score on school related skills such as arithmetic and spelling or in light of vocational history that implies particular performance level. Contributions of background variables have not always been appreciated in interpretation of many kinds of tests incl those purporting to measure neuropsych integrity: psychcorp, reitan/wolfson nor wechsler provide education data for scores. Elicits beh samples in standardized replicable and more or less artificial and restrictive situation. Approximate sameness of test situation for each subject: sameness enables examiner to compare beh samples b/w individuals over time or with expected performance levels, sameness also causes observations to be limited to behaviours prompted by test situation. Examiner extrapolates from limited set of o(cid:271)se(cid:396)(cid:448)atio(cid:374)s to patie(cid:374)t"s (cid:271)eh i(cid:374) (cid:396)eal life situations. Supports use of flexible selection of tests to address referral questions and other issues: quantitative data.
