High culture- culture consumed by mainly upper classes. Culture- consists of shared symbols and their definitions that ppl create to solve real life problems. Symbols- concrete objects or abstract terms that represent something else. Meaning of symbol is not in the symbol the meaning resides in what the symbol refers to and thus symbols always have an abstract dimension. Our definition of culture notes that symbols are shared. Cultures composed of symbols whos meanings are shared among the substantial number of people. Culture is primary driver of what people do because induviduals respond to the meaning of events and meaning of events is defined by our culture.
