Anthropology: the global and holistic study of human culture and biology comprising the following 5 disciplines: Socio-cultural anthropology comparative studies of human cultures and societies. Linguistic and semiotic anthropology focuses on how language and other systems of human communication contribute to the reproduction, transmission and transformation of culture. Archaeology the scientific study of material evidence of human activities in the past. Medical anthropology focuses on human health and its relationship with culture, behavior and biology. Biological anthropology the study of human and non-human primates in their biological and demographic dimensions. Holistic: considering all aspects of the research subject. Non-human primate: any primate that is not human. (majorly studied in biological anthropology) Morphology: the study of the form and structure of organisms. Ecology: the study of interrelationships of organisms and their environment. Primate: any extant or extinct member of the order of mammals that includes lemurs, tarsiers, monkeys, apes and humans.
