And that she will make her (the wrong-doer) love sappho, even if she doesn"t want to. Sappho calls love, and her anxiety of love, a battle: when i look at you (fr. G: describing her amorous love for another woman, and perhaps her jealousy of the interested man. Sappho says that whatever you love is the fairest thing: anactoria (fr. Anactoria to helen, and she as her fairest. She would rather see anactoria than all the lydians" chariots or their infantry fighting in all their armour. Texts 1-6: a grandiose sight, i assume, parting (fr. G: a friend leaves sappho against her will, and declares she"d rather be dead.
