The 2nd chapter revolves around truth, namely about how people differentiate truth from fact and to illustrate the the relationship between facts, truth and science is much more complex and controversial than the simple view usually taken. This sub-topic just touches on the issue of what people mean when discussing truth and fact, for instance, the dictionary states that truth is a verified or indisputable fact while a fact is what is known to be true. He also accepts that a consensus is unlikely due to the long historied debate that reages, but hopes to shed some light on the outline of these standard views. In this sub-topic he attempts to clarify what his basic thesis, this being, what do true statements or beliefs have in common that make them true. He proposes two theories the correspondence theory of truth and the coherence theory of truth.
