Document Summary
Aggression is any form of behaviour that is intended to injure someone physically or psychologically . When aggression is intended to cause extreme injury, we call it violence. Hostile aggression, harm-doing that arises out of negative emotions such as anger, frustration, or hatred. Often impulsive, primary goal is to hurt the target. Instrumental aggression, harm-doing that is motivated by goals other than hurting the target. Most acts of aggression reflect some mixture of anger and a desire to achieve distant goals. Behaviour that is intended to damage another person s peer relationships. More relied on by girls than boys. (crick and colleagues, 1997) had teachers assess physical and relational aggression of preschoolers. 12% boys 3% girls categorized as physically aggressive. 26% girls no boys categorized as relationally aggressive. Even at age 4-5, children showed important gender differences. Found signs of social maladjustment among girls who used relational aggression.
