Another study on explicit & implicit self-esteem: explicit: self-esteem one has expressed about one-self. Measured w/ self-reports: implicit: one"s evaluation of one-self that may exist beyond one"s awareness. Computer based reaction tests to measure it: results: Subjects who have high explicit self-esteem but low implicit self-esteem behave more defensively. These subjects also suggested harsher punishment to abor/ student compared to white student; reflective of prejudice.
