Religion is found around the world an can be known as old as the existence of human race. Some of the earliest evidence of human life found by archeologist included religious ritual. Today there are over 10,000 disinct tradiions ideniied as religions many divided into smaller groups called denominaions and sects. According to world chrisina encyclopedia, chrisianity alone includes over 9000 denominaions over 34,000 sects. The diversity is so extensive that some scholar refers to these religions as simply judaisms and chrisianiies there is a big diference from learning about a religion to learning a religion. Two diferent studies of religion devoional and normaive. The scholarly approach to learning a religion is so diferent that it is called religious studies to disinguish it from devoional and normaive. Church: is a religious group that exists in harmony with its social environment and it is suiciently insituionalized to be passed from one generaion to the next.
