Document Summary

Even the poorest of people, no matter where they live, still have pets in the house. Domestic animals have some type of purpose for humans like pigs, goats, cows, etc. but animals like cats don"t serve that purpose and are for comfort. Around the time of mesopotamia, we settled down and invented agriculture and domestic cats saw that we had something to ofer them (a shelter and comfort) and came to live with humans. Moving into this situation, domestic animals have a level of protection from the environment and larger predators as well as a steady income of food. We picked the dogs whereas the cats picked us. There are very many health beneits (increased survival rate for sick people, lower cholesterol, far fewer complaints about minor problems, better quality of life) People tend to feel healthier and happier with animals in the home.
