Why language: human cognition involves language for the complex, most important cognitive skill, humans are social creatures, underlies so much of what we do that it is almost impossible to imagine functioning without it. It allows us to express thoughts feelings etc. It is universal and all cultures have it (even un diagnosed deaf children make up their own) processes. The definition defines 4 areas that are essential to any language:symbols, structures, meaning, and generatively. It is dynamic and is always changing overtime: symbolic: Uses sounds written characters or other system of symbols to represent other objects, events, ideas, feelings, and actions. Arbitrary symbols represent specific objects, and actions. The words do not describe, or depict objects they just represent or are: structured: associated with them. There is rules that describe how language can be put together.
