Shared emotional connection members share common history, experiences and mutual support. Communities can be defined by location, race, ethnicity, age, occupation, interest in particular problems, outcomes or other common bonds. Now the work of planners is broadening to the community. This can have a positive affect on the health of a community. In the past, a sense of community was inherent in daily life. Technological upgrades have resulted in a loss of a sense of community because everyone is more independent. Community organization (as a term) was started because of trying to coordinate services for the poor and for newly arrived immigrants.
