Theory: a set of of interrelated concepts, definitions, propositions that presents a systemic view of events or situations by specifying relations among variables in order to explain and predict the events of the situations. In other words, a theory presents a systematic way of understanding events, behaviours, and/or situations . There is no best theory, depends on behaviours of target population. A theory has 3 major elements: the major factors that influence the idea (ex. Why some ppl active/not: relationship b/w factors, conditions under relationships occur/not (how, when, why ) Theories is backbone to plain, implement and evaluate hp programs, they help us: Model: a composite, a mixture of ideas or concepts taken from any number of theories and used together. Models draw on a # of theories to help understand a problem in a certaining setting/content. Models don"t explain the processes underlying learning just represent them. Concept: primary elements of theories or building blocks of theory (eg. personal belief)
