Health Sciences 2250A/B Chapter Notes - Chapter 3: Health Promotion, Health Impact Assessment, Needs Assessment
Document Summary
To plan is to engage in a process or procedure to develop a method of achieving an end. Resources usually means money, which can be turned into staff, facilities, materials, supplies, and all the things that enable organized activity to take place over time. Support means organizational policies, program and concept visibility, expressions of priority value, personal involvement of key managers, etc. Health promotion programs have a greater chance for success if all levels of management are committed and supported. Gaining the support of decision makers is one of the most important steps. The place to begin the process is to conduct a search of the existing literature. This includes articles, books, government publications and other documents that explain the past and current knowledge about a particular topic. Needs assessment: identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing the needs of a priority population. Epidemiology: the study of the distribution and determinants of health related states or events in specific populations.
