Overview: why hp is important and how to define it, framework that demonstrates how and why policies change or don"t over time. Almost everybody comes into contact with the health sector at some point. Health sector is a major part of the economy. Health is affected by areas other than health care (sdoh) Economic policies like taxes on cigarettes or alcohol may influence people"s behaviour and thus their health. Helps us tackles major health problems of our time (obesity) Guides use of health technologies, financing health service, which drugs can be used. Policy: decisions taken by those with responsibility for a given policy area (policy-makers) Aka programme, and a programme can include a lot of different policies. Policy elites: a specific group of decision makers who have high positions in an organization and often privileged access to other top members of the same and other organizations.
