Appearance often influences self-concept, may elicit prejudice or negative reactions from other people in a youth-oriented society. People spend lots of money on skin products, surgery etc. to prevent aging signs. This may improve self concept and enhance qol. Through skin we experience touch which allows us to give and receive good and bad feelings and messages (starts @birth) Older people are often deprived of touch.
