Qualitative research has the objectives of describing variations, describing and explaining relationships, describing individual experiences, and describing group norms. Qualitative methods are more flexible and allows for a meaningful analysis of responses across various participants and study sites. It is the most common sampling strategy, and involves group participants partaking based on preselected criteria that is relevant to the research topic. The sample size is dependent on the resources and objectives of the study. These types of sample sizes are based on the theoretical saturation and is most successful when data collection is done jointly with data review and data analysis. These strategies are based on the type and number of data collection-related activities will occur in the study.
