Political Science 2237E Chapter 243-251: 2237 Cahn 243-251
Document Summary
Just as there is no man who does not wish for joy, there is no man who does not wish for peace. Peace is the desired end of a war. All men desire to be at peace with their own people while wishing to impose their will upon those people s lives. Even when they wage war on others, they wish to make those people their own people: and impose their own conditions of peace. Peace of the unjust, compared with the peace of the just, is not worthy of the name of peace. The peace of the body is a tempering of the component parts in duly ordered proportion. Although they enjoy some degree of security and freedom from suffering, they are not in a condition where they have the right to be serene and free from pain.
