Traditional forms of political communication and traditional sources of political power are being reshaped. Post-democracy: a situation in which while forms of democracy remain fully in place, politics and government are increasingly slipping back into control of elites in the manner of pre- democratic times (colin crouch) Suggested that media-politics link is leading to post-democratic times. Historically, mass media"s relationship to politics has been framed by idea of propaganda and fear for its effect on mass society. Ellul: form and content of news represents a lack of continuity, which reduces individuals capacity to act as a responsible citizen. News produces ignorant citizens capable of pseudo decisions . Cnn effect: government"s foreign policies have been led by media coverage. More of a matter of appearance than reality.
