Document Summary

Stress involves any circumstances that threaten or are perceived to threaten one"s wellbeing and thereby tax one"s coping abilities. Psychologists have viewed stress in three ways: 1. a stimulus, 2. a response, 3. an organism-environment interaction. Events that place strong demands on us. Statements such as: there"s all kinds of stress in my life right now i have 3 exams next week, i lost my back pack and my car broke down! . We often think of stress in terms of major stressors: tornadoes, hijacking. Minor stressors (i. e. exams, paying bills) can also have effects. Routine hassles have been found to be more strongly related to mental and a physical health than major stressors. Why? the impact of minor stressors might add up over time. Stress can be viewed as a response that has cognitive, physiological, and behavioural components. A person might say: i"m feeling all stressed out.
