History: wilhelm wundt pioneer of psychology with first psychological lab along with edward titchener developed structuralism approach. Structuralism approach: mind should be studied by breaking it down to its structure and most basic form: structuralism gave way to functionalism. Functionalism: focuses on function of consciousness rather than structure. And how do they help us: sigmund freud.
