Coronary heart disease results from a reduction in blood flow through the coronary arteries, which supply the heart with blood. Causes 90% of heart related deaths: atherosclerosis is the principle cause of coronary disease. Atherosclerosis is a gradual narrowing of the coronary arteries caused by the buildup of fatty deposits and other debris on the inner walls. Myocardial ischemia occurs when the heart is temporarily deprived of adequate blood flow. Found a marker in the blood called the c-reactive proteins (crp) that may help doctors estimate people"s coronary risk.
