Stereotype closely related to gender roles, it is a ridged set of beliefs about a certain group of people that distinguishes those people from others and is applied to all members of that group. People believe that there males and female differ in psychologically in many ways. Children as young as six are aware of these stereotypes. Heterosexuality is viewed as an important part of gender roles. The feminine women is expected to be sexually attractive to men and in turn to be attracted to them. According to this theory, a gender schema is the set of ideas that we associate with males and females. Our gender schema influences how we process information. It is relatively difficult to change peoples stereotyped notions because we tend to filter out information that contradicts stereotypes.
