Some cultures have 3 or even 4 genders. Gender role - a set of norms, or culturally de ned expectations, that de ne how people of one gender ought to behave. Stereotype - a rigid set of beliefs about a group of people and applied to all members of that group. Children as young as six are aware of these stereotypes. In a study researchers asked kids to identify the appropriate role of either males or females and most of the time they aligned with the stereotypes. Heterosexuality hugely important part of gender roles. Women suppose to be feminine; men masculine and anyone who deviates like lesbians are violators of gender roles.
