Animals use various communicaton systems to aid survival. They usually focus on foraging for food, avoiding predators, recognizing friends and finding amate. Ethologist- is a scientist who studies animal behavior often refers to the four fs and food, foe, friend, finding mate. Communication- any behavior on the part of one organisms inteted to influence the emotions thoughts or behaviours of an organisms. Mostly vocal but can take forms in facial expression, body posture, movement. Goes left to right means she is telling them the angle from the sun in which they need to fly. Goes vertical she is telling the other to fly in the direction of the sun. Purpose of food calls is clear for bees. The purpose for food calls is less clear in others.
