People who may invest in these do so to boost sales (makes them look good) Dependence on public funds to build facilities designed as shopping malls. Contentious negotiations between players and leagues over working conditions. Concerns about scholarships and the increasing americanization of canadian school sports. Increasing professionalization + isolation of university sport from the educational institution. Need for different sports associated with canada"s diverse population. Segregation of programs by ses, race and ethnicity. More seeking alternatives to adult controlled organized sports. Created by idealists with a vision for increasing opportunities for young people with disabilities. Related to the needs of 6 million children in the u. s. & many thousands of soldiers whose injuries have compromised physical abilities. Concerns this might represent a new form of colonization. Concerned about training and cultural sensitivity for volunteers in the ngos.
