Types of stressors: major upheavals, war, natural disasters, affect many ppl at once, major life transitions, birth, death, chronic stressors, disability, occasional stressors, severe but goes away w out permanent change. Those who were organized from before, recovered better. War brought families closer if already cohesive, but apart if not. Immigrant families face acculturative stress bc of strains of adapting to a new society lack of lang skills, low employment and economic status, limited edu. Economic pressure increases parental unhappiness and martial conflict single (cid:498)sandwich generation(cid:499) balance parental care, child care, and work.
