Simply an approach to the study of the exp of the indv from the pov of his conduct . Watson simply applied the principles of animal behaviour to humans rejected the idea of the study of human consciousness . Instead of studying the mind introspectively, mead focuses on the act or, if other ppl are involved, the social act : acts are behaviours defined in part in terms of the behaviourists" notions of stimulus and response . Mead defines the mind in functional rather than idealist terms the mind is viewed in terms of what it does, the role it plays in the act, rather than as some transcendental, subjective phenomenon . A focus on this world, on empirical reality . Truth and reality are actively created as we act in and toward the world . People remember the past and base their knowledge of the world on what has proved useful to them .
