Conditional sentence: where the offender is required to fulfill certain conditions attached to the release. May include abstaining from alcohol, attending a treatment program or house arrest. Probation: most frequently used, and is the supervision of the offender in the community either as an alternative to custody or in conjunction with a period of jail time. Officers of the court, investigate, counselling, surveillance and enforcement, assessment, and service coordination.
