Document Summary

2210 essay: texting is an evolution of written language. Riddled with acronyms, often lacking capitalization, and without nearly any punctuation, text messaging is criticized by many to be an ungrammatical form of communication. This assertion, however, is not without its own criticisms. Because while it is true that text messaging often breaks english grammar conventions, texting is also an extremely efficient way to communicate. On the other hand, standardization of grammatical rules and sentence structure in written english have been an important method in record keeping and sharing knowledge throughout history. English and text-messaging is that text messaging is primarily used as a day-to-day type of communication, and therefore it is acceptable to break grammatical rules for the sake of convenience. In this essay, i will argue that texting is more of an evolution, rather than regression, of written english. First and foremost, the differences between standard written english and text messaging must be understood.
