Document Summary

Functions of cell types are re ected in shape and internal structure. The shape of red blood cells allow it to deform so it can pass through blood vessels. Cells often exist in communities, forming tissues and organs. Multicellular organisms have communities of cells with many important features. Most cells are attached to other cells or other substances. Cells respond to signals from other cells and the environment. Cells in tissue hace pathways for movement from one cell to another. Cels are specialized to have di eret functions from development and di erentiation. Tissue: collection of cells that work together to perform a function. Animals and plants have tissues that enable them to have various processes necessary to sustain it. In animals there are four types of tissue (epithelial, connective, nervous and muscles) All of these tissues combine to make an organ of the body. Organ: two or more tissues combine to function.
