Supply chain management collaboraion and coordinaion of all components of the supply chain so that market demand is met as eiciently and efecively as possible. Outsourcing buying goods or services instead of producing or providing them in-house. Factors that have made it desirable for organizaions to acively manage their supply chains: the need to improve operaions, increasing level of outsourcing, increasing globalizaion, increasing e-commerce, the need to manage inventories across the supply chain. Bullwhip efect demand variability is progressively larger moving backward through a supply chain. Goals and compeiive characterisics such as quality, cost, variety (lexibility), imeliness (speed), customer service, and ill rate (% of demand illed from stock on hand) should be determined by the members of the supply chain. Products will be designed with these compeiive characterisics in mind.
