Document Summary

Chapter 23: output and prices in the short run. An exogenous rise in the price level causes both the net export funcion and consumpion funcion downward meaning the ae curve also shits downward. When the ae curve shits downward, the equilibrium level of real gdp falls: the horizontal axis is now labelled as real gdp instead of actual naional income. The negaive relaionship between price level and real equilibrium gdp can be shown through the aggregate demand curve. Aggregate demand (ad) curve: shows combinaions of real gdp and the price level that makes desired aggregate expenditure equal to actual naional income. For a given price level, an increase in autonomous aggregate expenditure shits the ae curve upward and the ad curve to the right. A fall in autonomous aggregate expenditure shits the ae curve downward and the ad curve to the let.
