There are three general exceptions to this: antarctica, atmospheric near space, on the edge between the atmosphere and outer space, the high seas, in the middle of the oceans. These have been deemed international public spaces allowing for any country to use them. Territory and resources: countries have four basic elements, territory: natural resources, population: people, culture: high and low, state: government, physical environment, defined by borders or else naturally present. The physical environment most importantly features territory and all the natural resources on top of, below, or surrounded by it. Immigrant societies: countries populated over the years by waves of immigrants from many different places in the world. Ex. businesses or corporations, churches or religious groups, charities, sports leagues, clubs, social movements, and interest groups: social movements are broad based and widely dispersed groups of people devoted to a certain cause.
