Also in 1919, the dominion department of health was established, designed to coordinate federal activities in health, important in the influenza epidemic and returning soldiers that was a result of immediate post war. 1926- king passes the old age pensions legislation just before the election with the help of labour mps j. s. Bennett installs work camps for single unemployed men in a desperate response to the depression.
