Document Summary

As they grow, adolescents spend increasingly less time in family activities. Relationships in families change most dramatically when individual members or family"s circumstances are changing. Peak time for balance to be upset is around age 13/14 (maybe earlier for girls puberty) Adaption to adolescence esp difficult when teen is emotionally rigid or tempermentally difficult. To fully understand fam relationships during adolescence we must take into account characteristics of parents and of families at this stage as well. When kids reach adolescence, parents typically mid 40s and go through midlife cisis. Adolescence enter into period of growth/maturation, entering period of life span society labels most physically attractive. Parents however begin to feel increased concerns about their own bodies. Parents begin to feel possibilities for changes in their own lives are limited. After midlife, people more likely to see time in terms of how much longer they have vs how long they"ve lived.
