Document Summary
Slightly more teens have had oral sex than intercourse however vast majority who engage in oral sex have intercourse and promiscuity is not the norm for either activity. Important to view intercourse as one activity in long progression (slow build up to it) than as an isolated behaviour. Autoerotic behaviour: experienced aline, erotic fantasies and masturbation (50% of boys and girls masturbate before age 18) By high school, most adolescents have made transition from autoerotic behaviour to sex with another person. Order: holding hands, kissing, making out, feeling breasts through clothes, then under clothes, penis through clothes, then under, feeling vagina through clothes, then under, then intercourse or oral. Most adolescents report talking about contraception after rather than before sex. Males overstate level of sexual activity and females understate it. Sexually active at earlier age today than decades ago however overall slightly less adolescents having sex today than in 90s.
