Type I and Type II Errors
Critical Value:
-the actual score that cuts off the lowest 5% of the distribution
-1 score or 2
Values of:
-X (the variable)
-a test statistic
that describe the boundaries of the rejection region(s)
-if we have a decision rule that says to reject H0 whenever an outcome falls in the lowest 5%
of the distribution, we will reject H0 whenever an individual's score falls into the shaded area
(has probability of 0.05 or less)
Two types of errors:
Type I Error:
-the error of rejecting H0 when it is true
-conditional probability is designated as α (alpha)
-alpha is the size of the rejection reigion
-probability by a = probability of type I error
-we make a type I error 5% of the time
