Document Summary

Two big questions summarize the scope of economics: Goods and services: the objects that people value and produce to satisfy human wants. In canada, we have 2% agriculture (keshavarzi) from total production, manufactured goods for 20%, and services (e. g. retail and wholesale trade, healthcare, and education) for 78%. In china, agriculture is equal to 10% of total production, manufactured goods for 45%, and services for 45%. We understand that the richer the country, the more of its production is services and less its food and manufactured goods. Goods and services are produced by using productive resources that economists call factors of production. Factors of production are grouped into four categories: Land: the natural resources that we use to produce goods and services. Many resources are renewable, but resources that use to create energy are non-renewable. Labour: the work time and work effort that people devote to producing goods and services.
