Document Summary

Wisdom involves accepting the stabilizing constraints of reason and rationality, it involves feeling and intellectual judgement. Wisdom is something that only life itself can bring . Young children can display an essential wisdom that their elders have lost in the battle for success, career advancement, or self-promotion. Ancient egyptians teachings have been found from as early as 2500 bc. Chinese, confucianism, buddhism, hinduism and the hebrew sages of the old. Testament all offered maxims and counsels for the conduct of life. Philosophy is the ancient word for the love of wisdom and it was philosophers who set up the first academy or university in athens in the 5th century bc. Philosophers are more concerned with the skill in argument rather than answering how to live . Some parts of the world have different learning traditions in which classical authors and texts are studied for the insights they can offer rather than errors they may have made.
