Epidemiology is the study of health and its determents. Epidemiologists conduct studies and collect research to see what"s wrong in a population however they do not actually physically cure said problem. Figure 1. 2 compares life expectancies for different countries. At first i was shocked to find out that japan had the highest life expectancy rate (82 years). Upon further examination of the figure, i saw that the united states has a lower life expectancy rate than many other countries. Several reasons can attribute to this, such as the high poverty rates and incredibly large gap between rich and poor.
