389 views1 pages

Document Summary

This chapter was about how socio-economic status is first of all, representative of social class. There is some dispute between whether or not the relationship between socio-economic status and health is because of social causation or social selection. However, we are sure that ses is related to key indicators such as mortality, morbidity and mental health. It concluded that people with low income, working in an unhealthy environment workplace and have low education levels, are subject to experiencing greater health problems than those with higher education and income levels. Even though canada is a developed country, with free universal health care to all citizens, it still faces this social dilemma. Before reading this chapter, i was not aware of how every social scenario requires a difficult policy to be put in to place.
