Chapter 2: leadership and management- framework for action. Transformation leadership: influence through a vision, motivating through inspiration, stimulating the intellect of subordinates, individualized consideration. It"s effective because it changes the attitude, values and behaviours that align with organizational goals. Create changes in organizational culture, but important to consider reasons why a given organization gave rise to the culture. Organizational culture services because in one way another, it solves problems for the organization. Transactional leadership: making rewards contingent on performance, correcting problems actively when performance goes wrong, refraining from interruptions of performance if it meets standards, laissez-faire approach to organizational change. Direct appeals for performance through explicit reward structures. Summary: management and leadership are neither exhaustive not mutually inclusive, leadership is born of the relationship between the person(s) in the leadership role and the person(s) in the followeship role.
