Describes the experiences of living with poverty as a personal experience that is embedded in interactions with families, neighbours and others in the community. Traditional science is concerned with expanding knowledge by identifying, cause and effect relationships among identifiable and measurable variables. Statistics is the primary tool use to describe and understand these relationships. Traditional science focuses on concrete and readily measurable variables. Traditional science has difficulty in considering the role that human attitudes, values, and beliefs can play in developing and carrying out activities to change society. There"s a strong tendency of traditional researchers to reduces the study of poverty and its effects to the identification of associations between concrete and observable variables. Lived experiences helps the audience understand what the individual goes through when dealing with poverty.
