All page references are to the photocopy of austin"s text: what are the two competing hypotheses that austin outlines for knowing what unwritten divine laws command us to do. This essentially means that we just know something is right or wrong, it is like the law of the heart which is dependent on moral sense and our own conscience. Ultimately, this first hypothesis tell us that natural law has a short span of thinking because it is immediate. Immediate in the sense that it is short and inevitable inference of good and bad. The thought process associated with that inference is our morality and conscience that defines us as human beings. The second hypothesis is one that veers from traditional thoughts as outlined in the first hypothesis. Natural law promotes general happiness which is like an index and measure of god"s will.
