Prophet: divinely inspired human who acts as intermediary between god and other people. Gets message directly from god; does not learn from other people, not even from other prophets. Rasul: (cid:862)the o(cid:374)e who is se(cid:374)t, (cid:373)esse(cid:374)ger(cid:863); the o(cid:374)e who (cid:271)ri(cid:374)gs god"s s(cid:272)ripture. Charged with proclaiming the message worldwide, restores divine law. Rasul is a nabi but with higher stature. Isra ( night journey): this was the (cid:272)lea(cid:374)si(cid:374)g of muha(cid:373)(cid:373)ed"s heart, purifyi(cid:374)g hi(cid:373) fro(cid:373) si(cid:374) Miraj (ascent to heaven): was associated with going high, how muhammed went through all 7 heavens, seeing each prophet, and how he goes higher than all prophets and angels. Hijra: emigration from mecca to medina, significant because this established the year of the muslim calendar, and it is honoured because the muslims established their own primitive state.
