Telecommunications refers to the electronic transmission of signals for communications. Telecommunications medium is any material substance that carries an electronic signal to support communications between a sending and a receiving device. Advances in telecommunications technology allow us to communicate rapidly with clients and coworkers almost anywhere in the world. It reduces the amount of time needed to transmit information that can drive and conclude business actions. Channel bandwidth refers to the rate at which data is exchanged, usually measured in bits per second (bps)-the broader the bandwidth, the more information can be exchanged at one time. Broadband communications is a relative term but generally means a telecommunications systems that can exchange data very quickly. Guided (wired) transmission media in which communications signals are guided along a solid medium. Twisted-pair wire: twisted pairs of copper wire shielded or unshielded.
