KINE 3012 Chapter Notes - Chapter 1.1: Macula Densa, Afferent Arterioles, Feedback

9 views3 pages

Document Summary

Juxtaglomerular feed(cid:271)a(cid:272)k loop: high gfr, lots of fluid moving to tubule. Afferent constrict, decreases fluid sent to tubules: adenosine plays role, you still want to reabsorb 99%. It takes more energy & work to reabsorb more fluid: adenosine in other parts of body causes dilation but in kidney it causes vasoconstriction, this is active process. If we have high flow in epithelial cells, macular will produce adenosine by-product from work. Juxtaglomerular apparatus: anatomy: macula densa: specialized epithelium that sense distal tubular flow, tubular component, secrete paracrine factors that affect afferent arterioles diameter, sense changes in tubular & response to enviroment. Cause vasoconstriction/dilation which will affect capillary hydrostatic pressure: granular cells: specialized endothelial cells within afferent arterioles, vascular component, produce factors in response to macula densa factors & sns. Process of reabsorption: trans epithelial transport: reabsorption: substances in tubules (filtrate) are transferred to peritubular capillaries (plasm)
