Biological perspective: links between biology and behaviour (psychologists working in neuroscience or behaviour genetics etc. ) Biopsychosocial systems: cells -> organs -> systems -> individual-> family -> culture -> community. (biological, psychological, social systems) A: they share a focus on the link between the brain and behaviour. Neuron: a nerve cell, the basic building block of the nervous system. Dendrites: neurons bushy branches receiving messages & pass through cell body. Axon: neuron extension passes messages through its branches to other neutrons, muscles or glands. Myelin sheath: fatty tissue layer encasing axons of neurons & enables faster transmission - multiple sclerosis results from degeneration of myelin (communication and control slows or is lost to the muscles) Glial cells: glue cells - worker bees, support, nourish, & protect queen bee neurons.
