They are used to measure the individual"s differences that exist among people in abilities, aptitudes, interests and aspects of personality. Your responses to a psychological test represent a sample of your behavior. Measure potential more than knowledge: aptitude tests assess specific types of mental abilities. Differential aptitude tests assess verbal reasoning, numerical ability : achievement tests gauge a person"s mastery and knowledge of various subjects. Assess previous learning vs. potential: personality tests personality scales , these tests measure various aspects of personality, including motives, interests, values and attitudes. Both personality scales and tests of mental abilities are standardized measures of behavior. Test norms they provide information about where a score on a psychological test ranks in relation to other scores on that test. Psychological tests tell you how you score relative to other people.
